Purple is the standard for glass only collection in Australia. This MultiSort unit, with the added text and symbols, is an efficient diversion system so glass can be separated from other recoverables.
Glass is an important resource, which can be recycled endlessly without a loss in quality or purity, making it an sustainable choice when compared to plastics or even paper. As such, it is an ideal material to use and process in a circular economy.
It is important to note however, that glass containers and jars for food beverages are manufactured through a different process to other glass products such as windows, crystal and Pyrex, so they should be collected separately to avoid contamination.
